Devin is a wonderful and amazing person to be around! She might look a little bit different but, that's because she has Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic condition where people have 1 extra chromosome, the 21st chromosome which is also called Trisomy 21. Even though Devin has Down syndrome, she is just like you and me in a lot of ways. For example, Devin likes to cook, bounce on the trampoline, play sports- like basketball and tennis. She also enjoys playing on the computer and playing Wii with Dad. Me and Devin are best buds!! In our family there is Mom, Dad, Devin, Maddie(me), Emily and Bruce. Bruce is our dog and Devin is his #1 FAN!!!! He is a very big dog and sometimes Devin tries to ride him like a horse. He usually is cool with it, but sometimes he pushes her off.
Devin goes to school with me(Maddie) and our sister Emily. She can be frustrating sometimes but is still sweet!!! I like to hang out with Devin because she makes me feel happy inside and she is very positive. She always tries her best, she never tries to be mean or hurt anyone's feelings. She is always smiling and when she hugs me, no matter how happy or sad I am, I become happier and happier . Whenever I come home from somewhere, she always is so excited to see me and asks how my day was. No one really makes me feel the same way that Devin does- it is awesome.
